Boyan Slat

Productivity in Service of the Planet

Boyan Slat is a Dutch inventor, entrepreneur, and visionary leader, internationally recognized for his practical and organizational approach to solving one of the world’s greatest environmental challenges: plastic pollution in the oceans. At the age of 18, he founded The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organization that designs and scales technologies to remove plastic from the oceans and stop its inflow from rivers.

From his early days as an aerospace engineering student, Slat showed exceptional ability to combine science, design, and logistical implementation—creating real solutions where others only saw theory. His passive ocean collection system is a clear example of large-scale applied productivity, integrating advanced engineering, international team coordination, strategic planning, and operational efficiency in dynamic environments.

Under his leadership, The Ocean Cleanup has achieved key milestones such as deploying systems in the Pacific Ocean and developing barriers to intercept plastic in high-flow rivers through its Interceptor program. His results-driven approach has been celebrated for its effectiveness, systemic thinking, and long-term vision—all essential traits of modern productivity leaders.

Beyond technology, Boyan Slat represents a new generation of leaders who understand productivity not just as personal or business efficiency, but as the ability to organize resources, people, and ideas to solve global problems with measurable impact.
